Separate Life/TPD and critical-illness scenarios · methodology v1.0.0 · official data dated 1 Sep 2026

Decision evidence

Keep Life/TPD needs separate from critical-illness cash

Estimates two independent household scenarios from essential spending, selected obligations and only the resources you explicitly confirm.

Who this is for

Households reviewing Life/TPD support needs and a separate critical-illness recovery-cash runway.

What it does not decide

It does not recommend a policy, insurer or coverage amount, assess underwriting or affordability, or combine the two results.

Method and version

insurance-coverage-gap-v1.0.0 · source set sg-protection-reference-2026-09-01.1

Life/TPD equals the present value of essential household support plus selected obligations, less confirmed Life/TPD resources. Critical illness equals recovery-period essentials plus selected care and debt amounts, less confirmed CI resources. The dated 9× and 4× MoneySense cards are independent comparisons only and are never blended into either result.

Material limitations

  • Coverage, DPS and employer resources count only when confirmed; selected liquid assets count only after explicit opt-in.
  • The result does not inspect policy definitions, exclusions, inflation, tax, underwriting or provider solvency.
