Purpose and methodology
The road-tax engine separates regular tax, its age surcharge, the BEV fixed component and diesel special tax. Six-month, annual and complete comparison blocks preserve official component ceilings; only a genuine residual shorter than six months is day-prorated, and results are not official bills. The energy engine uses only the selected unit and partitions PHEV distance first.
Worked examples
Petrol example: 12,000 km/year at 6 L/100 km and S$2.80/L equals 720 L and S$2,016. BEV example: 16 battery kWh/100 km at 90% efficiency with a 50/50 home/public-DC mix produces 2,133.333 grid kWh and about S$1,010.99 before extra fees.
Frequently asked questions
Why enter registered motor power?
LTA road tax uses registered kW—not battery capacity in kWh or marketing horsepower.
What happens at zero distance?
Energy cost is zero, road tax remains payable, and cost per kilometre is unavailable.
Limitations
Ordinary private passenger cars only. Prices, consumption, access and extra fees are user-confirmed. Results are not an official bill, vehicle-specification catalogue, live quote or vehicle recommendation. Charger installation remains a separate handoff item.
